We have a tradition of awarding a swimmer of the meet after each home meet. This award goes to the swimmer who had an outstanding performance. On Friday night first-year Jack Ruble (Woodridge, Ill.) claimed his first swimmer of the week award. Jack impressed us all in the 200 fly, turning in a time of 2:04.93 and claiming first place. Victoria Parker (Columbus, Ind.) nabbed the women’s award for not only taking home first in the 100 Free, but also for a personal best performance so early in the season.
On Saturday Courtney Carani ’14 (Lake Bluff, Ill.) was the swimmer of the meet for the women. We gave her a real challenge on Saturday by asking her to swim the 1000 Free and then get right back on the blocks for the 200 Free moments later. She ended up on top in both events – impressive! For the men, Ted Hutchison ’12 (Sudbury, Mass.) and JB Easley ’13 (Cincinnati, Ohio) shared the award. Teddy dominated the competition in the backstroke events all weekend and JB staked his claim in the 200 Free.
