Our excavations at Lot 3777, on the southwest corner of West College and North Wittenberg Avenues, began on May 16, 2013. We laid out two, 6 x 2 meter units for excavation by the students enrolled in Archaeological Field Methods HIST 305. The area under investigation lies atop the original steps and entrance to the first house built on the lot when its address was 529 North Wittenberg. Since the house was remodeled in 1936 and the central entrance was moved to the north side of the house on West College, the east lawn provides a unique opportunity to excavate an area not heavily disturbed by the demolition of the house in 2012.
