Fired bricks are used in a variety of structures around and at Wittenberg University. The house associated with the garage at #3776 is made of red fired bricks.
The flooring for garage is made of two different sizes of brick. For the majority of the floor surface of the garage, the bricklayer placed bricks on their edges to make a narrow design of narrow coursing. The second brick floor was built against the first in the north end of the garage and was laid by a different bricklayer and likely in an entirely different period. The excavations under both brick floors will help us ascertain exact dates for the different periods of the brick flooring.
