1919 Deed of Sale to Alpha Xi Delta (ΑΞΔ) Sorority Zeta Chapter

The Spf’d Alumnae Chapter

of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: THAT, Clara Hamma, unmarried, in consideration of one dollar and other valuable consideration to her paid by the Springfield Alumnae Chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, does hereby Grant, Bargain, Sell and Convey to the said The Springfield Alumnae Chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity its successors and assigns forever, the following described real estate; Situate in the city of Springfield, County of Clark, and State of Ohio, and bounded and described as follows, viz:

Being Lot Number Thirty-Seven Hundred and Seventy-seven (3777) on the plat of Wittenberg College in addition of the city of Springfield.

It is a condition of this deed that if the grantee, its successors or assigns shall permit the manufacture, sale or traffic of intoxicating liquors on said premises, then the same shall be forfeited and the premises hereby conveyed shall revert to the grantor herein.

Being the same premises conveyed to the grantor herein by deed of Ollie F. Abbott and Elmer D. Abbott, of the date of October 1, 1908 and recorded in Vol. 163, at page 216 of the Clark County Deed Records.

and all the Estate, Title and Interest of the said Clara Hamma, either in Law or in Equity, of, in and to the said premises; Together with all the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging, and all the rents, issues and profits thereof;

To have and to hold the same to the only proper use of the said The Springfield Alumae Chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity, its successors and assigns forever, And the said Clara Hamma for herself and for her heirs, executors and administrators, odes, hereby covenant with the said The Springfield Alumnae Chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity, heirs and assigns, that she is the true and lawful owner of the said premises, and has full power to convey the same; and that the title so conveyed is clear free and unencumbered:

AND FURTHER, that she will warrant and defend the same against all claim or claims of all persons whomsoever;

Except, that the grantee herein agrees and assumes to pay all taxes and assessments due on and after December 1919.

IN WITNES WHEREOF, THE SAID CLARA HAMMA, unmarried, has hereunto set her hand this 1st day of July in the year of our Lord on thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
