Alumni College Connects Past And Present

Alumni and friends of the class of 1950 enjoyed a rare opportunity during their 60th reunion, June 10- 12, to engage with 11 recipients of the Alumni Association Award for Distinguished Teaching, the top faculty prize at Wittenberg, as part of Alumni College 2010. The 19 class members traveled from a round the country to celebrate their alma mater and its academic environment during the three-day event themed “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.”

Adrienne Conliffe James ’75

For Adrienne Conliffe James, Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” reflects her path in many ways. Following graduation with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and Spanish, James wanted to try a different course in life and began working in retail, training to become a buyer.

As a senior majoring in communications, Hannah Powell had some good ideas about what path she might take after college. Her experience helping homeless children with their homework at Springfield’s Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) as part of her community service requirement at Wittenberg, however, changed her direction.

Within just two months of launching, the newAlumni Network, accessible from the new university homepage, has welcomed more than 1,000 alumni into the new online community the network provides. In addition to offering a complete online directory of alumni, improved access to register for events, the ability to make a gift and a convenient way to stay connected with fellow alumni, the Alumni Network also interfaces with the popular social networking site of Facebook. President Meets With Alumni In Asia

President and Mrs. Erickson traveled to Japan, Feb. 20, where they connected with alumni in Tokyo. More than 20 alumni living in Japan attended the event.
