With its vintage photos, Wally Witt-inspired mosaics, plasma TVs and games galore, a newly renovated gathering spot has quickly enhanced student life on campus.

Cleverly called Doppelgänger’s (“unknown twin”), the former Game Room located on the lower level of the Benham-Pence Student Center now sports a user-friendly sound system, custom Wittenberg lighting over several pool tables, two Nintendo Wii consoles, a ping-pong table, an Xbox 360 with “Rockband,” two skee ball machines, one full sized Dance Revolution unit, various arcade
games and comfy furniture where students can just kick back and relax with friends.

“The new game room is a celebration of the less serious side of life at Wittenberg,” said Student Senate president Jon Duraj ’09 in his grand opening remarks, Feb. 25. “This room is a collection of not only some of the best games, but also a collection of student life from decades past.”

Funding for the project came from the students themselves through their annual
student fees, which are typically allocated for student-focused initiatives. Members of Student Senate and the student body involved with the project then enlisted the work of architect Karen Beasley of Thomas and Marker Construction, the Office of University Communications and the Physical Plant to
make their dream for the room a reality.
