Finals are finally here!…

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Hey everyone,

It’s the end of April and you know what that means: Finals are fast approaching! Ah. I’m nervous for next week. At the same time I’m really excited for summer. I can’t wait for all the great stuff I’m going to be doing over the break (like going to Hawaii for the first time!). I’m going to take so many pictures to put up in my room next year haha. I’m going to miss Witt and everyone I know here, of course, but I think by the time finals are over we’ll have all earned ourselves a well-deserved break.

On another note, I’m excited to experience WittFest for the first time this Saturday; I’ve heard that it’s one of the best events you’ll go to while at school. Plus, Young the Giant’s coming and that’s awesome :) I hope everyone has a great time and makes great memories!

After that, good luck with studying!

This will probably be my last blog post for the year so I’m signing off.

Thanks for reading this year :)

April Fool’s Day!

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

Hey everyone!

Today’s March 31st, so that means the day of pranks, jokes and overall ridiculousness approaches. That’s right (although my title probably gave it away) April Fool’s Day! April 1st is one of my favorite days of the year, not only because it means spring is about to come in full swing but because I love having a day that is devoted to joking around. I think it relieves a lot of stress to just mess with each other one day a year, especially with finals coming up in just a little over a month!

Speaking of which, I have a lot of projects/papers I should be working on, instead of sitting here, thinking about ways to prank my lovable roommate. Better be getting on that…

Good luck with all the jokes guys :)

Until next time!

Happy Spring Everyone!

The weather here has been nice for so long I’m not even sure that winter just finished; it already feels like summer!
With spring comes exciting activities on campus (frisbee golf, suntanning, hanging out with friends in the hollow etc.) and I’m so excited to get to do all of those things in the upcoming weeks. I”m also pretty nervous because I schedule for next semester next week. Scheduling is always so nerve-wracking but I know it’ll work out fine in the end :)

Finals are fast approaching as well and after that I”m home for the summer! I can’t believe I’m almost done with my freshman year of college. I still remember what it felt like to be terrified of what was coming for me before I left for school but now I’m so glad I made the choice to come to Wittenberg. I’ve learned a lot and I loved having the chance to meet all my new friends here.

Can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Leap Year!

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

I can’t believe tomorrow is leap day! It doesn’t seem like it’s been four whole years since the last one. It also means the Summer Olympics are quickly approaching which is really exciting. I can’t wait to see what they’re like in London!

On another note, it’s midterms week again. Ahh. I probably wouldn’t be wrong when I say everyone’s a bit stressed out right now so I thought of some ways to destress if you’re interested:

1) Take a walk – Could be 10 minutes or an hour, either way it helps clear your mind :)

2) Make a study schedule – It sounds lame but it’s the only way I can keep track of everything I have to do haha

3) Take time to hang out with friends – If you spend the whole week studying and never take a break, you’ll go crazy, I promise.

Well, there’s definitely more tips but those three are what I see as the most important.
I wish everyone luck on their midterms and hope you have a great Spring Break!!

Midterms here we come…

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Hey everyone!

I can’t believe it’s almost time for midterms again! I have no idea where the last two months went…
Oh well. I’ve been enjoying myself so much that I suppose I don’t notice the days flying by. I’m really loving this semester so far, especially my Beginning Creative Writing class. I would recommend  it to anyone who wants to give creative writing a try. I’ve already learned so much about how I write as well as the subject that I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

I’m also currently in Emerging Leaders, which is an awesome program for Freshmen that I suggest any prospective students look into. It’s already been a very interesting and eye-opening experience that I would love for people to share.

I know everyone’s busy studying for Midterms or just being students so I’m going to cut this off here and get some studying done myself. I wish everyone the best of luck next week and can’t wait until next time!

Always,

Julie

Is this really Winter?

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

Happy last day of January everyone!

Ironically, it is currently a balmy 52 degrees on campus. I’ve even seen people walking around in shorts. I”m not going to complain about this amazing weather of course, it’s just strange to know that winter isn’t even half over and we’re having spring sunshine outside. Maybe it’s because I’m from Buffalo, but I keep expecting there to be a blizzard! haha.

Anyways, I can’t believe we’re already into the fourth week of semester. Time is flying by again and I starting to feel like the end of the year is going to come way too soon! I know I’m going to be very busy with all of my new activities for the coming semesterI just joined Greek Life at Witt and couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to begin working on the philanthropy of my sorority :) For anyone out there who is considering going Greek but isn’t sure, I highly suggest giving it a try.  You don’t have to rush formally or even pledge, but the experience of just meeting so many new people is absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t trade the memories I have from the last few weeks for the world.

I hope everyone is having a great second semester and for anyone out there who might be a prospective Witt Student, come visit! The campus is beautiful at all times of the year, even when winter is actually showing its face.

Until next time,
Julie :)

The start of Spring Semester!

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Hello Everyone!

I can’t begin to tell you how nice it is to be back on campus. I had an amazing three week break but I was starting to get antsy at the end there, wanting to be back at school. Now that I’m here I couldn’t be happier. I have a lot on my plate for the coming semester but I’m more excited than nervous. Having made it through my first semester in college some of the daunting aspect of college life has been reduced. However, that’s not to say this semester promises to be any easier. I expect to be working just as hard, if not harder than before.

That hard work will, hopefully, be balanced by a great social experience. I’ve made so many new friends here at Witt and I’m excited to continue to meet people in the coming months and years. Being a part of Hall Gov in my dorm (Myers) and interacting with the people around me has taught me that you need to be willing to step out of your comfort zone to truly discover who you are. I can’t wait for all the new experiences I will have this semester and in my next three years here.

I wish everyone luck in the coming weeks and a Happy New Year to all :)

Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 18th, 2011

It’s official,  Thanksgiving is a week from today, and I couldn’t be more excited :)
Thanksgiving officially begins my favorite time of year. I love the sense of comradeship and general friendship that prevails during the holidays. Plus, who doesn’t love sitting in front of a fire with a cup of their chosen hot drink just getting warm? haha. Personally, I love it more than anything.
Also, this is the time of year when we all get to remember what we’re thankful for, whether we want to or not. Once again I’ll say what I’m thankful for. As of right now, I’m most thankful for being at a school that knows the wishes of the student body so well that they serve a Thanksgiving dinner in the CDR once a year. Which was amazing by the way as pumpkin pie is one of my personal obsessions. Also, I’m thankful for the opportunity to visit my family; even though we all live far apart, we get together once a year and it reminds me of how much I owe to them.

Anyways, I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving is amazing and wish all luck with impending final projects and well, finals.

Until next time,
~Julie

November Update!

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Hey Everyone!

Now that Halloween has come and past the semester is quickly coming to a conclusion. I schedule for Spring Semester tomorrow. It’s exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time; I’m really happy that I get the chance to make my own decisions but I’m also worried that my top choices will be closed by then. So far there’s still room in all of them so here’s hoping :)

Around campus there is evidence of impending winter as well as impending finals; the days are getting colder and the classes are getting harder.  I love that moment when its just cold enough to see your breath but not so much so that you have to rush between buildings so you don’t lose a few limbs, so right now I’m really loving the weather. The days are shorter which makes getting work done a little more difficult; sitting in the library when its dark out just makes me want to nap! haha

On a related topic, Thanksgiving is two weeks away. I can’t wait to see my family and eat some seriously good food. I  love that time of year when everyone comes home, regardless of how far away we spread out in the world the rest of the time.
This year I’m flying to California to visit my brother who’s in the Air Force. So I’m definitely going to say that I’m thankful for that opportunity, and the opportunity to study here at Witt as well!

Before I go I’d thought I’d as you to think about:What are you thankful for?
If it’s a person, call them up and let them know you care, it spreads a feeling of warmth in a season of cold days and dark nights. :)

Until next time,

~Julie

Advising Week

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Well, the semester is half over. As is fall break. I can’t decide whether to be upset or excited about this.  I suppose it’s okay to be feeling a little bit of both. School is going by too fast for me to comprehend. I know I say this a lot but it’s extremely true. When December rolls around I’ll be really excited to be able to say I’ve made it through the first semester of college; at the same time I’m nervous for impending finals and the proverbial research project I have due in a few weeks. Yet, from what I can tell most Freshmen are going through the same stresses I am, so I’m not going to worry too much about it quite yet.

On another note, fall has hit us in full force. The trees have changed, presenting an array of colors from red to orange to a sunshine yellow color. These colors give the hollow an entirely different look and I often find myself distracted by my surroundings as I walk back and forth from class. At the same time, I know it means impending winter, so I guess we’ll see how long it takes for the the weather to get cold and dreary.  Then again, I truly can’t wait for the snow!

I hope everyone’s having a wonderful October and gearing up for Halloween on Monday! Have an amazing holiday and I’ll see you next time :)
