It seems as though all of my fellow bloggers are all blogging about being busy. And I’m afraid by saying it I’ll almost sound like a copycat. But the weeks are indeed getting busy and busier. It is now the week after fall break, and it’s hard to believe it but, we are in fact half way through the semester.
I’ve come to the realization that junior year just means more of everything; this has its ups and downs. On the upside, I’ve made some great friends this year, and of course kept all the old ones too. I’ve successfully managed to receive all A’s in my midterm reports, which may seem easy, but with my schedule, I must say I’ve even impressed myself. And, I’ve gotten even more involved, both in the academic world, and the social world. But as with all things, there is a downside—all this increased involvement just means more papers- more studying- more time spent in the library- all of which seem to add up to more time than I have in a day. But for the moment, I’m coping.
So what have I been up to on campus—Well, for starters I’ve been spending a lot of time with my sorority sisters. Last night, we had a pancake dinner to raise money and awareness for Prevent Child Abuse America, one of our four national philanthropies—these are just organizations that we help out from time to time, as much as we can. Although I don’t eat pancakes (I know ODD right?), we all still had a good time making pancakes and spending time with each other. As we always do.
I’ve also started volunteering at the Hospice again. For the past two years I’ve gone in and helped with decorations for Halloween and Christmas. I love spending time with some of the patients there. It’s interesting to hear some of the stories they have about life, and all the things they’ve experienced.
And lastly, to wrap up my interesting events is the fact that I am currently being stalked by a cat. I’ve had the same cat follow me home, four times now. I’m not quite sure where he’s coming from—but he keeps following me, and trying to come inside my house. One day I spent over an hour trying to run around in circles trying to escape the little thing. All I’ll say is cats are a lot smarter than you think.
Til’ next time.
Amanda.
